I am an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Qatar University. Before Qatar, I spent 16 years in Canada building software or managing teams who build software during which I snuck in an MS in computer science from Concordia and a PhD in Information Systems from HEC Montreal. Nowadays, I direct a $3 Million fintech with blockchain program funded by Qatar Foundation. I am also wrapping up a $860K bigdata project aimed to detect sentiments in Arabic online chatter. I teach data science, analytics, business intelligence, project management, and IT security. I enjoy getting involved in the local community and involving the local community with the international IT R&D network. Currently, I am the president of the Association for Information Systems – Qatar Chapter and VP of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on organizations and society. I aim high and often fail. Yet, I enjoy the learning process of any journey. When I do succeed, it feels great! Some of my research appears in top journals like IT & People, Journal of Enterprise Information Systems, Information Communication and Society, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Educational Technology Research and Development, and Social Network Analysis and Mining. My research is mostly around Analytics, Gamification, Predictive Modeling, IT Project Risk, IT strategy, Big-Data, Social Networks and recently on Cutting-edge technologies, FinTech & blockchain . But I don’t mind working on new topics.
